IMAGINARY FILM STILLS (SERIES IN PROGRESS)
| In this series I am exploring my fascination with filmmaking and how it has influenced my own personal picturemaking. My memory of a film I've seen is quite evocative in that it reminds me of other significant aspects of my life at the time that I had seen it, much in the way that a song or a particular smell does. By adopting a panoramic aspect ratio and using only pure black and white, I hope to create a starting point for the viewer to begin a narrative journey that starts with only a title and one single frame and extends forward and/or backward from that point. As the name suggests, these still images are extruded from non-existent films, among which include dramas, comedies, documentaries, foreign films, action films, historical films, etc. I don't place the frame at any particular point in the film as this will be different for each viewer's version of the invented narrative. |
